School has taken over my life the past few weeks. So many things to do. Only six days left! With most field trips and projects all done, the time goes by too fast til the end of the year. I hope that I'm making the most of my days left with my students, and they know how much I've loved teaching them this year. I'm trying to tell them with endless art projects, a scavenger hunt, a field trip to the park to fly kites, and smiles every day. Sure am gonna miss this class.

THEY KEEP ERASING ALL THE STREETS WE GREW UP IN

My school celebrated its 100th birthday today. Everyone has been hustling to decorate it for the open house this weekend, I've never seen it look so pretty! Today was a big assembly, with student speakers, songs, a flash mob, and even birthday cupcakes for everyone. I headed an art project for the whole school - individual student banners strung throughout the hallways. But of course, our own art decorating my classroom door and wall space - heart mosaics and eagle motifs (our school mascot), which we finished just in the nick of time at the end of the day bell. I teach at the same school that I used to go to when I was little, as for my brother. When I asked my mom why we were smiling so goofy in the picture, she said, "because you're kids! kids are goofy!"

Met with my Master's supervisor today, so exciting! Won't be starting til September but we talked about things like studio art courses and travelling to do research, and I got so pumped about it. Naturally I though it best to look dressed up but still crafty, hence the neon nails. After our meeting, I went to shake her hand and she gave me a hug instead! I guess I made a good first impression :)

Secret 1: I found a million gray hairs this morning, due to impending report card deadlines I'm sure, hence the mini-pony right where my hair parts to help hide. Secret 2: I call myself a city girl, but spend way more time out in Steveston... and I'm starting to really like it out there... Secret 3: What brings me the most happiness lately is going for leisurely bike rides, no matter if it's raining out, I absolutely love it.

Ugh the amount of things I've bought for my trip, when I should just be waiting to buy things when I'm actually on the trip, silly me! A few musts though, that I had to have before jetting off: a waterproof Kate Spade makeup bag, MAC compact eyeshadow palette, and mini Dior mascara. Andddd the perfect lightweight dress, couldn't resist, from my fav local store El Kartel. Four weeks of school left until summer (and Vietnam), yay!
