CLIMBING FOR A FINER CAUSE

Pants & shirt: American Eagle, Shoes: Zara

Work in a grade one classroom and you will find more pink clothing than you can imagine - pink shirts, pants, socks, boots, and even hair bands. Unfortunately, I don't own a pink shirt, so these heels will have to do for Anti-Bullying Day in Vancouver. And although I don't think pink a very common colour, the more I looked around the more I saw it, in the sunset, at Science World, and in my birthday chocolates from yesterday.

FOR THE LOVE, COMES THE BURNING YOUNG

Shoes, Jean shirt, & Blue bag: American Eagle, Pants: Lululemon, Hoodie: American Apparel, Coat: Wilfred Free, Leather bag: Club Monaco

Twenty-seven years young to be exact! A birthday full of handmade six-year-old cards, a custom "chocolate jar" for my teacher desk (to put chocolate in, obviously), some bright pink flowers, a song from the music class, a homemade cake, a workout after school, an important union meeting, a dinner with my family, a skype date from Africa, and a colourful bouquet waiting for me when I got home, arranged all the way from Thailand. What a day!

COME ON SKINNY LOVE

Sweater: Gap, Coat: Zara, Rings & necklace: American Eagle

So many new bright clothes in my wardrobe, love the pops of neon everywhere. This is a trend I'm so on board with, feels about right being an elementary school teacher. And skinny rings, bought in bunches (eighteen for ten dollars!) that are simple enough to not over-shadow my party nails, still from the weekend...

THE HALLWAY WAS WHERE WE LEARNED TO CELEBRATE

Party photos from last night. They always happen in bursts, where someone decides to pick up the camera and take a bunch of quick shots and then that's it, until the next person does the same thing an hour later. So fun.

Dress: Cheap Monday, Belt: my mom's, Shoes: Michael Kors

LUMP SUM

Coat: Lucky Brand Jeans, Boots: Locale, Skirt: Joe Fresh, Top: Wilfred Free

Can't believe my mom stuck it out with me for six hours worth of birthday shopping today. Love her.

SAYING NOTHING, THAT'S ENOUGH FOR ME

Dress: Wilfred, Slip: Club Monaco, Sweater: TNA, Boots: Locale

A sunny day in Vancouver, what a change the weather can bring. Today was one of those flawless days where everything went right and all my kids got their work done and the class was so calm and we started a new art project, high hopes of taking over most of the empty wall space in my classroom. Just the beginning of tissue-paper flowers that will become many, many more...

CAUSE BLINDED I WAS BLINDSIDED

Shoes: MRKT, Pants: TNA, Shirt: Gap, Coat: Wilfred, Bag: American Eagle, Necklace: handmade

So many emotions, goddamn it's annoying being a girl sometimes. Today at school I was totally lost in my own thoughts and all my kids were sitting on the carpet waiting for me to tell them what to do: "You guys can do your letters, or actually, your independent reading, or maybe, word work instead..." And then one of my grade ones yelled out, "Just make up your mind already!" Ahh if I only could...

SEARCHING FOR AN INNER CLOUT

Jeans: Gap, Sweater: French Connection, Bag: Coach, Scarf: Eddie Bauer, Toque: Rebelrebel

My best alone times are going for walks, this city was made for them. Over the Granville Street Bridge and back, underneath cloudy skies. My bf has been in Thailand for over four weeks now, still a couple more to go, and sometimes a three-hour stroll is what keeps my mind off missing him too much.

FURLING FORESTS FOR THE SOFT

Shirt: Gap, Necklaces: American Eagle, Coat: handmade

Spring is coming! So glad I finally don't have to wear my toque every time I go outside. Last night called for a kinda nature-looking blouse and my shearling coat. And at school, two new art projects to celebrate: family trees with fingerpaint leaves and tempura greenery with fabric flowers (framed). My classroom is literally blooming.

ONLY LOVE IS ALL MAROON

Pants: H&M, Shirt: French Connection, Necklaces: Blue Ruby, Rings: Stella & Dot, Nail polish: American Apparel, Shoes: Aldo

I swear I was the only person at my elementary school who was not wearing red or pink today, which definitely made me realize I need some red and pink in my wardrobe asap. Jewellery and nail polish will have to suffice for this year. Happy Valentine's!

FOR THE LOVE I'D FALLEN ON

Preparations for tomorrow at school. So much better to spend Valentine's with kids I think, they know what matters: writing a sweet sentiment to a friend, enjoying each others' company, eating treats.
Love in its most simplest form.

FLAMING MY EVERY CELL

Have had my fair share of blisters from runs past but this one definitely takes the cake. I must admit, there is something so satisfying in bragging about the injury rather than the race itself, and although this half marathon was my best time yet, I'll be secretly proud of the fact that my feet will be wearing sandals for the next week or two.

HON, IT WASN'T YET THE SPRING

Shirt: Gap, Shorts: American Eagle, Coat: handmade

I really wanted a shearling coat so I just made one instead. Material cut up and re-used from my Halloween costume. All I can think about is how perfect it will be for music festivals, which are already getting lined up in my spring schedule, and cue the optimistic photos with shorts and bare legs.

THIS IS NOT A PLACE NOT YET AWAKE

Coat: Wilfred Free, Black slip: Club Monaco, Shirt dress: Gap, Boots: Kelsi Dagger, Bag: Coach, Toque: Rebelrebel, Nail polish: American Apparel

Sunshine is always nice, but there's just something about Vancouver when it's overcast. If you do live here, you have to love those rainy, cloudy days because they are much more common than the sunny ones, and eventually they become preferable to me. Love going for a walk around town, a toque and a hooded jacket over an umbrella any day, high heeled boots to keep my feet dry, and the day off from school.
The perfect Friday afternoon.
